Wrathful aspect of Avalokiteshvara. Mahakalas are the chief dharmapalas, protectors of the Dharma. They are either black or dark blue in color and wrathful.
At the top: Musical arrangement for the propitiation of the protector deity Mahakala, composed by the 6th Karmapa and performed within the Kamtsang Kagyu order of Tibetan Buddhism.
